Impact resistant slate concrete tile very wind resistant roof options

As a coastal town, Corpus Christi is well known for its beaches and sunny weather. Along with those pleasant perks comes the downside of hurricane-force winds that residents and businesses must often contend with. Let’s look at some of the roofing materials and systems that are made to withstand some of the most severe conditions of the Coastal Bend. Wind resistant roof

1. Metal Roofing:

Metal roofs are highly wind resistant, hail, and other extreme weather conditions.   They have a long lifespan, often lasting 50 years or more and can reflect sunlight, helping to reduce energy costs. Here on the coast they do not last quite that long due to our salty air and humidity. Should be able to get at least 20 years out of a metal roof with minor repairs. Here is a link to our recommended metal roof material Click here.

2. Clay or Concrete Tiles:

The heavy weight of roof tiles helps make them an extremely wind resistant roof. They are known for their durability and resistance to harsh weather. Tiles can add a classic and elegant look to your home. Tile roofs are one of the best high wind resistant roofing system you can get. The only thing you should have to repair on a Tile roof would the underlayment as that does not stand up to the heat as well as the tile does. However as it is not in direct contact of the elements it should last you a very long time. Asphalt shingles are generally more affordable than other options.  Modern asphalt shingles, especially those with impact-resistant features, can withstand high winds.
